The structure frame is 2.4 mts diameter and 2.5 mts high, and is
constructed using 316 stainless steel. The monkey’s fist knot design
has been around for hundreds of years and was traditionally used for
throwing a lead line between vessels to enable a heavier line to then
be pulled over. The fist usually has a stone of suitable size inserted
inside the knot to aid throwing and allows the knot to be tightened
against the stone. In our case we have molded a large concrete ball for
the inside of the knot.
With this sculpture we have used a white rope 80mm diameter that is
known as silver rope, it’s highly resistant to UV and was manufactured
not only for its high strength but its suitability to exist in very
damp conditions without rotting. This rope is usually used on tug boats
and to tie up ships such as ocean liners and freighters.The knot is
able to swing and rotate within its frame and sways gently with the
wind. The sculpture can be dismantled for shipping and is very strong ,
durable and can be set onto any surface. The complete sculpture weighs
100kgs.
Price on application
Keith has been working in the manufacturing and design industry for
over 30 years and has his own engineering business which allows for the
versatile manufacture of his sculptures. His use of stainless steel,
timber, rope and stone, and water and wind, as an art form is a
refreshing change for him. Keith has produced many functional pieces such as weather vanes, water features and stainless works that are defiantly unique.
