Anna has been working with Australian timbers since she was a small child having inherited her passion for cedar from her father who is a furniture designer, sculptor and craftsperson.
Her fascination with the female form seems to be a constant recurrence in her work, Anna carves the curves of the figure to follow the gain and life of the wood.
Anna studied a fine arts degree through Newcastle University and completed an honours year in 2005 and undertook research into the history of women's underwear, a topic which is still integral to her artmaking. "Bass" encompasses this topic and refers to the struggle of juggling all the demands of modern life, "Balancing the Bass" so to speak.
Last year Anna studied a diploma of education and this year she hopes to pass on some of her art making skill and enthusiasm to high school student.
