 David Benson was born and raised in Sydney. He studied at the National Arts School in Sydney and completed a Diploma in Fine Arts in 1974.
He has been happily married for 17 years, raising 7 beautiful children.
David has been a full time artist since 1989 and has invested in contemporary art through his own galleries in Sydney, Newcastle and Lorne Victoria.
David has exhibited in Singapore, India, New Zealand and Australia. He is inspired by uplifting and spiritual motifs and selective imagery. David has been a practising Hari Krishna since 1979 and continues to be inspired through his devotional practice.
"I have spent my childhood sailing on Sydney harbour - That amazing stretch of water that nobody owns is literally the best address in Sydney.
My appreciation of Sydney stems from intimate recollections of still summer days, cool afternoon breezes and the lapping of waves of a harbour beach.
The works consist of acrylic on canvas and paper featuring some of the most beautiful and celebrated sites that comprise Sydney's coastal landscape. The hues are subtle and deep and the broadstrokes are balanced by subject details that at once bring the image into a spectic context.
