Keith Dowling
keith dowlingGreenstone gallery is the perfect vehicle for Keith to express his artistic capabilities and vision by tying together his experience in industrial engineering and manufacture and his creative abilities.

keith dowlingKeith has been working in the manufacturing and design industry for over 30 years, has his own engineering business which allows for the versatile manufacture of his sculptures. His use of stainless steel, timber, rope and stone, and water and wind, as an art form is a refreshing change for him.

Keith has produced many functional pieces such as weather vanes, water features and stainless works that are defiantly unique.

Artist Statement

"Shape and form that is pleasing on the eye, a curve or bend, a hole, or a shape without a name mixed with colour and texture, the blending of different materials and the variation of the things that hold them together or separate them at a calculated distance that seems to suit. Things with detail that can amaze, the feel, the smell, the light, the sound and the natural movement of some sculpture that adds grace and alters the shape.

We can go on forever so to keep things minimal, sculpture for me, and I hope for others is a creation that can be viewed with interest and appreciation long after you first meet.

Pieces are created after my thoughts have finished with the design. I think about a particular idea for a sculpture for as long as it takes to settle on the form, build method and materials before the work begins, although there are usually many alterations along the way to allow the mind's picture to materialize.

I have been designing and manufacturing within the engineering field for over 30 years, so within my sculptures there is structure, movement and quality and the endless search of pleasing form.

For me sculpturing is relaxing and enjoyable. It does't involve rules and specifications and control by authority. It allows me to use my creativity and knowledge of materials to create works that may just have something you have a bit of trouble describing.

Sculpture is the appreciation and interest in the creation that never tires."
