Scott grew up in a very creative environment which has made painting second nature to him. Essentially self taught, although influenced by his father he mainly works in oils and acrylics on canvas and board focusing on landscapes and life drawing. Scotts' paintings are rich, lustrous and textural and he is intrigued by "sgraffito" techniques which assist him in his creation of his modern landscapes.

He classifies his work as impressionist and expressionist to abstract landscapes, seascapes and skyscapes. Scotts paintings will tend to be places he's been, seen, or composites of the various aspects of the landscape and the natural world that have appealed to him. Scott mixes his chosen subject with the beauty of colour and the texture of paint to create his rich textural artworks.
