" As an abstract artist I like to explore new methods; experimenting with materials, texture and colour.
My ideas are influenced by a lifestyle close to nature; from sailing and from feelings about the environment and people. The natural environment has never so strongly determined the essence of my work than it has since I've lived and painted on the North Shore at the mouth of the Noosa River.
Through a lively exchange with the canvas I reflect on my natural surroundings incorporating ceramics to represent the contrast of the built environment. I use mixed media a lot in my work. It is mostly canvas-based, but I have also experimented with metal surfaces - using oil and acrylic paint. Other substances, such as sand, glue, charcoal, paper, cotton and rope are added to provide texture."
